Yes. The only thing it will not do is act as a Z-Wave repeater when powered by batteries.

I have been using it on battery power only for over 3 months and have noticed no difference in functionality or performance

I believe it will yes. Certain information will be sent less often to save on battery use but the settings can be tailored to suit your needs. In theory the device will act as a zwave relay when mains powered but I have no evidence either way.
