Manual says "Maximum length of wires: 3 meters". Is that really the case and does it apply for both input and output wiring? Thinking of installing these on the DIN rail with Eutonomy housings, but 3-meter cable restriction would make this impossible.

The recommendation applies to the input wires but are really just guidelines and mostly there to protect Fibaro in case of issues. Long switch wires can sometimes induce voltage which can make the inputs behave erratically. We would suggest testing first before committing to a large installation. There are no hard and fast rules, some modules have a warning on the length, some don't. In the same way that some modules say they should only be installed in a 60mm deep back box!
